WELCOME TO THE STUDIO OF R. PAUL HARRIS

Paul's paintings depict the feel of the area in which he lives.  Many of his creations include the wildlife that he witnesses around him or the landscapes he observes on his travels.  Paul is an avid lover of the outdoors and uses the different mediums of acrylic and watercolor to capture his surroundings.

Capturing Still-life

Besides his work with landscapes and wildlife, Paul also has a collection of still-life portraits.  The one pictured here, was inspired by his late father-in-law who was a passionate fly fisherman.   Some of his still-life paintings depict the equestrian world as he got to witness it while supporting his youngest daughter.  As with all of Paul's paintings, the subjects are diverse and cover a wide spectrum of subjects.

Use of acrylic and watercolor

Paul likes to use acrylics because he appreciates the detail and control an artist has while making works of art come alive.  On the other hand,  he likes using watercolor for the exact opposite feeling.  He can be more free in his brush strokes and in the way the color is transcribed across the paper.  Each of these techniques can be found throughout all of his artwork.   Please take a look at Gallery 1 and Gallery 2 to see an assortment from Paul's collection.
